Inside the Bubble

Introducing Naomi Goeller

Me with one of my cubes.

Who am I? I am an artist, a graphic designer, a teacher, a mom, a wife, and a geek. In addition to all of that, I can solve a 3x3 Rubix’s Cube in three minutes; and I can solve a 7x7 cube as well.

Me as a Graphic Designer

Me working on location.

Back in 2012 I began my journey as a graphic designer by attending Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and began majoring in Communication Design and Communication Design with Interactive. In May of 2014 I graduated from NOVA with both degrees (Associates of Science) magna cum laude. Later I attended Liberty University and graduated on May 11, 2019 with a Bachelor's Degree in Studio and Digital Arts with an emphasis on Graphic Design and I earned summa cum laude honors.

Me as an Artist

This is one of my relief sculptures. "Dragonfly for Niah" created in Dec 2014.

I think that I am one of only a handful of people who somewhat became what they said they wanted to be when they were in kindergarten. I love art! Whether I am taking a painting class with family and/or friends, doodling in my sketchbook, or cutting out little pieces of paper with my X-acto blade, it just feels like I am doing what I am meant to be doing.

Me as a Wife

Me and my hubby Halloween 2016.

I married my best friend in April 2015. One thing is for sure, life with him is never boring.

Me as a Mom

Me and my middle daughter on the first day of school.

In December 2007 my first daughter was born. In April 2015 not only did I gain a husband, but another daughter as well; and then in June 2017 another little girl joined our family, and then again in August 2020 our youngest little girl was born (side note: she is NOT a quarantine baby, we found out she was coming MONTHS before we learned the word "covid"). Whether I'm building Halloween costumes or helping with homework. I find that their open honesty only makes my art better.

Me as a Geek

Me cosplaying at the Harry Potter 7 part II midnight release. The bag on my head is a long story.

I like to describe the geek culture as “I’m weird but that’s okay.” The best description of the difference between a geek and a nerd that I have heard simply stated: “both geeks and nerds have their passions and their quirks. The difference is that geeks know that this makes them weird, but they do not care; while nerds on the other hand are oblivious to their weirdness.” I know that I’m weird but I’m okay with it. I love Doctor Who, Star Wars, board games, and cosplay. I am weird, I am a geek, but I embrace this fact, there is no shame in it.
